  1. ECHO AND NARCISSUS

My name’s Echo and I would like to tell you about what happened to me one day.

All the goddess liked to run through the silent woods on Mount Olympus, playing and chasing the deer. There was Queen Hera, soundless as the sun’s rays; there was Diana, quiet as moonlight; there were the wood nymphs flitting like thistledown. I liked chattering, arguing and shrieking with laughter.

One day I was jumping, running and chattering. And suddenly I saw Hera. She said that I had talked again. But I disagreed with her and she became very angry. She pointed a magic finger at me and said “Once and for all, be silent!”

Hera put her hands to my throat, her fingers to my lips, and looked around with horror. She said that I had always wanted the last word and I would have nothing else. And now I can only repeat the last words…

Then I ran out from the Mount Olympus and saw a shepherd boy. His name was Narcissus and he was very nice. I felt in love with him. But unfortunately I couldn’t speak with Narcissus, so I was only annoying him. I put flowers at his feet and then he said me to leave him alone. After a few days he said me that he hated me. And my love to him turned to hate.

I was very disappointed and sad. I didn’t know what to do. Then I wandered away into the forest where, in my misery, I grew thinner and thinner, paler and paler. At last my body faded away altogether. Only my voice was left to blow about with the leaves.

  2. Echo and Narcissus

One day when I was walking on the flowery fields with my sheep I met a very annoying girl. It looked like she fell in love with me. Every girl that sees me falls in love with me so I wasn’t surprised.

“What can I do for you?” I asked. “…For you…for you…?” the weird girl said. Now she was staring at me with her mouth open saying nothing. “Everywhere I go you follow,” I complained. “…Follow… follow…,” the girl said. She started to go on my nerves. “Stupid girl, I suppose you think you love me?” …love me, love me,” she pleaded. “You bore me, Leave me alone!” I commanded. “…alone, …alone!” wailed the girl.

Day after week after month she followed me around. “Look at yourself” I said. “…look at yourself,” she sobbed. “Gladly!” I answered, and went into the forest to a lake. And there I sat for a long while looking at my beautiful face in the lake that was like a mirror. I kissed my reflection in the water. When my lips touched the water my reflection disappeared. “No, don’t go away!” I said. When I sat still I could see myself and I sat still even longer and gazed at the water. I sat for so long I turned into a beautiful flower.

  3. Empathy – Echo and Narcissus

    By Narcissus (Denis)

This morning I the nicest, the most beautiful living creature was walking with sheep which were ugly compared to me. Then suddenly, an ugly girl came running up to me. I asked her a question, but she only repeated the last two words that I said. I asked her another question, but she only repeated my last two words. I didn’t understand her, so I just walked away, ignoring her.

I looked back and she was behind me, I got a bit annoyed, but I still kept walking away from her. She was behind me again, and this time I got mad at her and told her to go away from and to leave me alone, but her said eyes kept looking at me as if she was in love with me. I said “no” to myself, because I can’t love anyone else, because I already love myself. But the sad, speechless girl kept following me, until I shouted at her to go away. She sadly went away into the forest, and was repeating the sound of the moving trees.

I came along a little pond, and I looked inside. There I saw a beautiful person. I couldn’t stop gazing at him. I was in love with him. I got closer to the water and kissed it, but the person started fading away. “No, no, don’t go away” I said in a pleading tone. I was very sad, that I couldn’t kiss my reflection, so I kept staring at for hours, falling more on love with every minute.

I stayed next to the pond for years, and then one day, I couldn’t look at my reflection any longer, my heart stopped working, because it was in love with an unreal person, and I died while l looking at the reflection. On that day, a beautiful, yellow flower grew on the place I died, and the flower was named Narcissus, after me. It stood there, on the edge on the pond, leaning to the pond, as if it was looking at it’s own reflection.

  4. Echo and Narcissus

    Narcissus (by Max Ripley)

One day as I was looking after my sheep a girl came to me and started to follow me around. It was annoying and I thought she wanted something. So I asked her what she wanted and all she said was 2 words “for you, for you”. Then she gave me some flowers. This is not the first time this happens to me as girls are always falling in love with me. I know that I am irresistible but I do not really like girls. This girl couldn’t stop looking at me as she followed me with her mouth open! Then to make things worse she started repeating everything I said. Well the last 2 words that I said which was a stupid thing to do. This went on for ages, months in fact and nothing changed. Apart from the girl, her face changed as it turned pale and she was getting thinner. Then one day when I had enough I said to her, “Go away, I hate the sight of you. Do you think I could love a stick insect like you. Look at yourself.” She told me to look at myself and I thought I would do so to get away from her. I went to the pool to look at myself and saw a reflection of me. I thought I looked good so I went to kiss the face in the water. But when I was about to kiss my lips suddenly the reflection disappeared! I was so upset and just sat there gazing into the water wishing my reflection would come back. I waited and waited and waited. Now I am a flower.

  5. Echo and Narcissus as Echo in the first couple of paragraphs
I was sitting down chatting to myself when suddenly Queen Hera walked up to me. She glared at me in the eye; suddenly she asked me if I was talking again?
“No.” I replied. Just then I started laughing, then the queen was so annoyed that she said to me, “Any last words?” she questioned me.
“No.” I answered back. Suddenly, she pointed her magic finger and shouted, “FOREVER BE SILENT!!!” Then the queen screamed, “Now you can not say nothing else.”
When suddenly, I replied, “Nothing else.” I felt odd then she cried, “Be gone.”
    Then I replied, “Be gone.”
I walked away very sad and unhappy because I could not speak.

  6. I love my reflection I thought to myself. Urgh here is what’s her name... err Echo. Yes Echo. She is walking towards me. I know I’m handsome but why? Why does every girl have to follow me? I know! It’s because I’m sooo handsome! “What can I do for you?” I asked her she answered “for you....for you...” she answered. That’s what you call weird! She laid flowers on my feet. I kicked them away. I get enough of them every day. URGH!! She is still following me! “Everywhere I go you have to follow,” I complained “....follow....follow...” she answered “Stupid girl. I suppose you think you love me.” I explained to her in a nasty way “...love me....love me...” she answered “You bore me! Leave me alone!” I exclaimed “...alone...alone...” she told me back. This was starting to get really annoying!
Day after day she followed me and followed but every day she got uglier! “oh do go away! I hate the sight of you! Do you really suppose that I could ever care for a stick insect like you? Look at yourself!” “Look at yourself!”...she sobbed “Gladly! I told her. That was the best thing I have ever heard her say. I’ll go to my favourite spot. In the middle of the forest. I looked into the pool. I like it. I love the face. I need to touch it.....” don’t go!”I shouted as the face went to ripples. I tried to kiss it but then, no what’s happening noooooo....

  7. Narcissus and Echo.
I am going to tell you how I echoed everything someone said. It is a very sad tale, so try not to cry although I do whenever I tell the tale.
One day I was chattering when Hera, Zeus’s wife, passed by and told me to stop talking. I didn’t stop talking, so Hera pointed her finger at me and put a curse on me. The curse was that whenever someone says something, I will repeat the last words they said.
I was walking through the fields, feeling unhappy about the curse, when I saw a handsome shepherd looking after his sheep. I recognised him as Narcissus, the most handsome god of all.
“What can I do for you?” asked Narcissus.
“For you, for you…”I said, holding a bunch of flowers out to Narcissus.
Narcissus just walked away, but I was not going to give up now. So I walked after him for a few weeks, until finally Narcissus said “Look at yourself.”
I just answered “Look at yourself.”
He just walked over to the pond and admired his reflection. Then I cast I wish that he would fall in love with himself as much as I loved him. Then I wandered around for several months until I grew so thin that I turned into wind. Just as I turned into wind I saw Narcissus turn into the prettiest flower I had ever saw.
Then I heard Hera’s maidens calling “Echo, Echo” but all I did was echo them.

  8. Echo and Narcissus Empathy

Hello there! I am the goddess Echo and I LOVE to run around the silent woods…One problem…I am not silent material AT ALL.

Queen Hera the goddess punished me for talking back to her and ALWAYS talking! I could only say the last two words from a sentence that a person gave me! It was torture!!! I couldn’t be quiet for a second, let alone a whole eternity!

I was sobbing and weeping…And sobbing. I saw this one hunky shepherd boy herding some fluffy sheep. He looked at me and caught me gazing at his round blue eyes. “Can I do something for you?” He asked me with his soothing voice. I gave him some flowers but all he did was chuckle and walk off with his sheep.

My throat longed to say, “I love you! Marry me!” But that wasn’t possible.

I followed him for months and weeks and days until he snapped, “Do go away! Look at yourself!” and he scampered off to a pond in the woods. I was in love with him, but he was too busy loving himself! The nerve!

My love then turned to hate, and sadness. I turned into a breeze and drifted about the world.

That’s why there are echoes in the world.

  9. Echo and Narcissus. In Echos eyes.

I am Echo and I shall tell you of how I faded away. One day I was walking in the woods when I ran into Queen Hera. I was talking and then Queen Hera told me: You’ve done it again. I asked what I’ve done. She simply told me I was talking. I told her I wasn’t and he argued for a while. Then she pointed her magic finger to me and put a spell on me that I would always get the last word. Now I can only say the last two words I hear from the person who’s talking to me. Then I ran away crying into the woods and saw Narcissus a beautiful shepherd boy. I immediately fell in love with him. I picked some flowers and followed him. I had to follow him, because I couldn’t say anything. He asked me some questions but I couldn’t reply, I only said the last two words. Then he said look at yourself and I said Look at yourself. He said gladly and went towards the lake and looked at himself. I just wished that he would feel the pain of falling in love with somebody and then suffering from it. Then I went back into the woods with nothing to eat or drink and then I slowly faded away….

  11. In the picure I am the shepear. I was rounding up my sheep so I stopped to look at the veiw. I looked up at the sky. I looked up to my wife as she was pulling our house. I thought I heard a splashing sound. But wait! There was a boy falling into the water and he didn’t come back up! I carried on rounding up my sheep thinking im imagining things. Though now that I think about it I know someone had fallen. I asked my wife to see if it was true “My dear wife, did you see some one fall from the sky today when we were farming?” “No” she answered with a look on her face that made me feel crazy.

  12. Every time I said a sentence I would repeat the last few words of the sentence. I really like Narcissus, one day I went up to him and gave him flowers. Hera gave me a spell that I couldn’t say the last words of a sentence. When I went up to Narcissus he got so angry that he said ‘’everywhere I go you fallow me’’ Narcissus was a Sheppard so he was busy the whole day with his sheep. I think Narcissus is really handsome; After Narcissus had the conversation with me he went to the pool and looked at himself the whole time, and if he wanted to kiss himself the reflection was gone.

  13. Echo and Narcissus
The story Echo and Narcissus starts like this:
Echo was always laughing and shouting then one day Echo was running and laughing with the deer in the woods of mount Olympus. On her way home She heard a big voice shouting at her it was Queen Hera saying you have done it again. Echo replied with a big what! What are you talking about?
Hera said “you’re always talking”. Echo said “I’m not”! Hera was so angry that she casted a spell on Echo and said “for once you shall be silent”! Then Echo ran away in silence miserably into the foothills. So she came across a boy called Narcissus and instantly fell in love, so then she picked up some flowers and followed the boy. Eventually Narcissus noticed her following him and said “what do you want”! Then Echo repited his words, From his point of view he thought she was a nutter. But he didn’t really care much for woman so he carried on his walk. After weeks of following him he came across a pond and he said “go away”!Then her love turned to hate and she wandered off getting thinner and thinner till she turned into dust and flew away, While Narcissus was at the pond he noticed his reflection in the water and fell in love with himself.
    The end
