Perseus
ReplyDeleteSimilarities:
Perseus’s father goes to the fortune teller and hears that he will be killed by his grand son. He sends Perseus with his mother Danae in a chest to drown. Perseus goes to kill Medusa. Perseus kills Medusa. King Polydectys turns to stone.
Differences:
In the story Perseus saves a woman called Andromeda. He kills the sea monster so he can save the girl. In the film Atlas, the giant who holds up the sky, turns to stone. Perseus turns Atlas into stone with Medusa’s head.
I preferred the story to the film. The film misses a whole section of the story out.
Perseus
ReplyDeleteSimilarities
The similarities between the two were that King Acrisius goes to a fortune-teller. King Acrisius put his daughter and grandson in a chest and sent it away to the see. A fisherman finds them in the chest. King Polydectes wants to marry Perseus’s mum at the new island. Perseus tells the king that he will bring back the Gordon Medusa’s head so his mum will be free. The gods give him different items to help him kill Medusa. In the woods Perseus finds the Gray Sister for help, to the Gordon Medusa’s head. He kills Medusa and brings back the head to the king. Perseus turns king Polydectes into stone. Perseus’s mum marries the fisherman.
Differences
Differences between the two were that the titles were different. In the movie king Acrisius puts Perseus and his mum in jail after he talks to the fortune-teller. There was one character that was in the movie but not in the story. His name was Atlas and he held up the sky. In the story after Perseus killed Medusa he flew over a country that had problem. There was a monster that snatched fishermen off the beach. He killed the monster and gets Andromeda as his wife. Also in the story he turns many guards and the king into stone which he does not in the movie. In the movie Perseus only turns king Polydectes into stone.

Compare and Contrast
ReplyDeleteI watched the movie version and read the book version of Perseus and Medusa. They were both very long stories and mainly different.
The similarities are the main characters and the King Acrisius going to the fortune teller. Also that he tries to kill his daughter and Perseus by putting them in a chest and throws them in the sea. When Perseus goes to look for Medusa the gods help him by giving him a shield, sword and something to make him invisible. He also sees the 3 witches with one eye and asks them where Medusa is.
The main similarities are that his mother Danae does not have to marry the evil King and that Perseus kills his grandfather by throwing a discus which hits him on the head by accident. So the oracle was true.
These are some of the differences. In the movie King Acrisius goes to the fortune teller before Perseus is born and when he finds out that his daughter is going to have a son that kills him, he locks her in a cell. In the book Perseus is already alive and when the King hears the news from the fortune teller, he puts them in a wooden chest and throws it in the sea. Another is King Polydectes said Danae had to marry him in six days in the movie but in the book she says no to his proposal for 17 years. In the book King Polydectes sets Perseus a challege to fetch the head of Medusa and in the film it’s Perseus’s idea.
In the movie there is a man called Atlas holding up the heaven as a punishment but it is not in the book. Also Perseus is the son of Zeus in the movie but not in the book. The biggest difference is that Perseus saves Andromeda from a sea monster and marries her but he also has to kill Phineas by showing him the head of Medusa.
Perseus:
ReplyDeleteSimilarities:
The similarities i found between the movie and the story are that at the beginning King Acrisius goes to the fortune teller and finds out that his grandson Perseus-the son of his daughter Danae will kill the king one day, so what he did was he took Perseus and Danae and put them into a chest then sent them onto the river. The second similarity i found was that there was a very kind fisherman that found the chest on top of the river and oppened it then took Danae and Perseus out of the chest. When the king of that island-King Polydectes found out about Danae he wanted to marry her but she didnt want to, neither did Perseus, so Perseus had to kill Medusa and bring her head to king Polydectes to stop him from marrying his mother Danae. Then the last similarity i found was that at the very end Perseus brings Medusa's head and turns King Polydectes into a stone by showing Medusa's head to him.
Differences:
The differences i found between the movie and the story were; first the title was different in the movie it was Perseus and The Gorgon but in the story it was Perseus. Second difference i found between them was that there was a missing character in the movie - the girl - Andromeda and the sea monster. The there was a missing character in the story - the guy that held the sky - Atlas. The fourth difference i found between the story and the movie is that danae marries the fisherman in the story but not in the movie. The last difference is that Andromeda and Perseus travel to another place and has a wedding in th story but not in the movie.

-Today in English we watched the film of Perseus. I will be comparing and contrasting Perseus's film and book.
ReplyDeleteThe similarities are:
The mean King Polydectus was turned into stone.
Perseus entered the Olympics and he also killed his grandpa.
Perseus became king of the land and found Medusa's head.
The two titles were different and the three old witches lived on the ground in the film, not on a hill. There was no wedding in the film and Perseus never saved the poor girl from the angry sea monster.
Diffrences:
ReplyDeleteThere is a narrator. there are more gorgons and also its a different title. Danae gets locked up. She gives birth to perseus in the dungeon. Dictys is suppose to be young and also Perseus suggests that he should bring the head to polydectes. Polydectes only asked danae once for marrige and forced he to marry him the first time. Polydectes does not send soldiers to beat up Perseus.
Similarities:
There is an Atlas. All carecters are the same. There are the 3 witch sisters. He kills Medusa. He turns Poldectes and Atlas to stone. He kills his grandfather.
Differences:
ReplyDeleteDanae was locked for many years in a cellar until Perseus, her son, was six. Then, Acrisius locked Perseus and Danae into a chest. persus killed Medusa when she was awake.
Similarities:
They were found by Dictys. Perseus kills his granddad and Medusa
Perseus
ReplyDelete1. This is a story about Perseus the son of Zues and Danae. Danae’s father was King Acrisus who made the mistake of going to the Origal.
2. There were three medusas in the film as in the story had only one. In the film it is not clear where Perseus got his gifts from the gods as in the story they told you and showed you.
