Today at English class we read our books again, and this is what I read about:
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Chapter 5, Advice from a Caterpillar.
In the wood again, Alice comes across a Caterpillar sitting on a mushroom. He gives her some useful advice, as well as a tool: the two sides of the mushroom, which can make Alice grow larger and smaller as she wishes. The first time she uses them, her neck becomes very long. While she has a long neck, she pokes her head into the branches of a tree and meets a Pigeon. The Pigeon is sure that Alice is a serpent, because she has a long neck, and though Alice tries to prove that she is a girl, but the Pigeon tells her to go away, so Alice goes away.
Today in English class we went to the library to read some more in our reading books. I read chapter eight today.
It was a very short chapter about a conversation between Jiggy and Roo Next. (The mum in the new family.) They talked about how to act in front of the cameras and how not to be the loser the producer of the show wants Jiggy to be.
I didn’t like this chapter that much because it wasn’t as fun as the other chapters I read before. I hope the next one will be better.
REFLECTIVE WRITING On the nineteenth of October we had double English lesson and on the second period we went to the library. There I continued reading “The Silver Sword” by Ian Serraillier.
As I have already written Ivan helped lost children a lot and he also brought them shoes to go to Posen. They wanted to go to Posen to find their brother Edek. The journey wasn’t very long and Russians also gave them some lifts. When they arrived there, they used the address which Ivan gave to them. It was an old building and there were a secretary there. The secretary said that Russians had taken Edek to the Warthe camp. So Edek was sick.
As I have already said, I like this book a lot and I don’t want to change it.
Maata’s Journal In this book I read about a girl called Maatas. She and her family were surviving on a island. When all of a sudden the mom and little brother disappeared. Maatas went outside when it stopped snowing and went to look for her mom and brother. She couldn’t see them but then she decided to climb up a rock. She saw a head popping out of the snow. It was a bear with her mom in his mouth. She ran to camp and got the rifle. Her dad fallowed her to the aria she saw the bear. Her dad never thought her how to use the rifle but she wanted to shoot, because she saw the bear. While she was aiming for the bear her older brother saw something in the horizon running and screaming.
This chapter is called Snozzcumbers which is a strange word. At the start Sophie asks the Giant what he eats as he doesn’t eat humans like the other giants. He tells her that the best happy food is pineapples and pig winkles but they don’t grow in Giant Country . The other vegetable that grows is called snozzcumber. He shows her one which is very large and has spikey knobs on it. The Giant bites it and spits it out as it tastes disgusting, then he tells Sophie to try it. She doesn’t like it either but he tells her that she has to eat it to live on. Sophie then tells him about vegetables that grow n the village fields like cauliflowers and carrots. The Giant says he can’t steal them but she says that he stole her.
The Giant says a lot of words that are wrong and Sophie keeps correcting him and he doesn’t like it. He gets upset and says that he didn’t go to school and he knows he gets things wrong. Sophie asks him why his mother didn’t teach him and he tells her that he doesn’t have a mother. There are no woman giants and giants just appear on the Earth. But he says they don’t die, they just disappear.
I now know that this book will have a lot of words in it that don’t make sense or the Giant says things but uses the wrong similies or metaphors.
I have started reading this book because I have read another book from these series. So I know all the characters and problems they have to solve. The author is called Gillian Cross and has written eight other books about ‘The Demon Headmaster’.
The book starts with the six friends (Dinah, Harvey, Lloyd, Mandy, Ingrid and Ian) having a S.P.L.A.T meeting about whether they should go to the Purple club party. S.P.L.A.T stands for social protection of our lives against them. Them stands for the demon headmaster and his sidekicks.
Anyway, they end up deciding to go to Purple club party that Ellie, Mandy’s cousin, invited them to. The day of the party comes and they all get ready after school. Mandy says that Ellie recommends you wear clothes that you don’t care about and bring bananas with you. She doesn’t know why you need bananas.
They catch the bus at four thirty because it is so popular that you need to get there two hours before it starts. When they get there they find lots of expressionless children just like Ellie.
It was impossible to miss the entrance; it had a huge flashing neon sign that changed colour every minute. It had immense silver doors.
The S.P.L.A.T gang soon got bored and were about to go home when the crowd started chanting 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2…1 and the gigantic silver doors opened! Ellie told them to follow them through the crowd and get to the front of the crowd before the doors closed. They followed Ellie through the crowd with their heads down until they finally got to the front. Dinah was scared of getting squashed by the crowd behind her. Ellie said it would be fine and pointed to a boy pushing his way through. One of the men who was keeping an eye on the children grabbed the boy and through him into the crowd. The crowd passed him on to the back of the line.
The silver doors were closing! The children needed to get in! They quickly walked in and saw lots of different lights and disco music. Suddenly a man called DJ Pardoman walked onto the stage and everyone started cheering.
The strange thing about DJ Pardoman that his face kept changing to different famous people. They danced for about ten minutes and then it was over and the silver doors opened. When they got out they found themselves sliding around on millions of bananas. They slid around for about two hours and then went back home.
Well, that is where I got to. I think that there is something sinister about Ellie and the other children because they have got very ghostly looks. It looks like the headmaster got something to do with that. I can’t to finish this no
Today I had changed my book to my dads book about Jamie Carrergher.
I read the first pages and it talk about his info like when was he born and many more things. I also looked at the pictures of him when he was younger.
Today we had English and we read again. I kept reading me old book.
After she built all of the other stuff Wesley came home. She didn’t hear him come in because she didn’t feel very well. He ignored her and then saw the expensive staple gun.He was furious!!! He started to move towards the money box where there was 100 dollars missing. He screamed at her saying: 'I’m missing a hundred dollars here Noreen!!' She didnt answer. He left the apartment stomping his feet down the stairs. She stood up and looked out the window. She watched him walk away slowly. She took her jacket, 700 dollars from the money jar and the keys to his truck. Then she locked him out of his own apartment. She got in the truck and drove for miles. By : Celine Schmid

Facing the Demon Headmaster
