Today in library we carried on reading our books. I didn’t find out that much stuff today but this is what I found out.
The TV show has started filming the two families. Jiggy does not like it because he is really shy and does not want to speak. Also in this chapter they talked a lot about flies and why flies were called flies. They also talked about bees.
Later on in the book I think that the TV show is going to film the swap and how seriously Jiggy is going to take it. I also think that there is a lot of funny jokes coming up.
Today in library we carried on reading our books. I didn’t find out that much stuff today, but this is what I found out.
Alice was big now, and she couldn't go through the door, so she started crying. Next to her she noticed a pair of gloves, so she picked them up, but the gloves shrank her to a very small size. Now Alice was swimming in the pool of tears that she made when she was bigger.
I think that Alice is going to get out of the pool, and that se is going to make friends with some unusual animals.
Today in English we went to the library to pick out a book of our choice and I picked The Folk of the Faraway Tree or in short (The Faraway Tree) by Enid Blyton. The characters in the chapter I read are Joe, Beth Frannie, Connie, Moonface, Silky, Saucepan Man, Watzisname, Miss Muffet, Tommy Tucker, Jack and Jill. The section I read was about a lovely day when Joe, Beth, Frannie and Connie were going to the Faraway Tree. When they got there they called for Moonface to throw down some cushion in a basket so they could get up to Moonfaces house instead of climbing up the tree. When they all reached the house, Joe asked Moonface where Saucepan man was and was told he had gone to the world at the top of the tree because someone had said that Nursery Rhyme Land was up there and he wanted to visit his friend Miss Muffet. They all agreed they would go and find him but on the way they met Silky and Watzisname who also wanted to join them, so they became a group of 7. The group all climbed up the ladder and went through the white, soft and fluffy clouds to get to the Land. They wondered where Miss Muffet was and luckily a boy called Tommy Tucker who they knew from a nursery rhyme walked by. The boy pointed to a house over the hill in the distance. Also on the way they saw Jack and Jill going up the steep hill to fetch a pale of water; suddenly Beth ran quickly up the hill because in the rhyme Jack fell down and broke his crown!.
REFLECTIVE WRITING As I have already said, I am reading “The Silver Sword” by Ian Serraillier. On the eighth of October we had another double English lesson. I didn’t change my book and didn’t read a lot from another reflective writing as I wrote it yesterday (07/10/09). But let me retell you what I have already read during the second English lesson in the library. As I have already mentioned in the first writing, the main character is Joseph Balicky and he has lost his family during the Second World War. And he went to Switzerland to find his wife and left a note in his native town to his children. And this is what had happened to his family. One day his children were sleeping in their home with their mother. It was very dark and cold outside when suddenly the soldiers had broken into the house and fortunately all children woke up. And they tried to escape. Then from the window they saw how soldiers were taking their mother away. And the eldest son Edek had a gun and he shot, and hit the soldier’s arm. Then they had left their home and started to find another place to live because soldiers would come back. Fortunately there were a lot of ruins to dwell. And so they settled down in one of them. The life wasn’t easy because it wasn’t enough food to eat but Edek tried to find it, and he managed it really well. Then they opened something like a school for the other lost children. The teacher was Edek’s sister. She taught children how to read, how to write and etc. I am very excited what’s going to happen!
Today in the English lesson I carried on reading my book.
Sophie was watching the Giant from her window and saw him get something out of his suitcase. It was a trumpet and he put it through the window of the house where the Goochey children slept. Then he blew into the trumpet. Sophie saw that the Giant had a pointed nose and saw his hands and was getting very scared. So she ran back to her bed and hid under the blanket.
After a bit she peeped from her blanket and saw the shadow of the Giant’s face and his pointed nose and then his hand came through her window. She was very frightened and wanted to scream. Then the Giant’s hand plucked her out of her bed in her blanket and carried her away.
The Giant was running over the fields with Sophie in the blanket holding her in one hand and the suitcase and the trumpet in the other hand. Suddenly he began to slow down and he arrived at the destination.
This chapter was called The Snatch and now I know why it was called this!
The next chapter is called The Cave and I think this is where the Giant takes Sophie and the cave could be where he lives.
In English class, we carried on with our books. But I'm almost done with mine because it's very short.
Verity, a girl living with her grandparents in England.
One day, Verity was mean to her cat, Mabel, and so later, Mabel disappeared! She was gone for 24 hours. Verity was so upset that Mabel went missing after how mean she was.
After the 24 hours of Mabel's disappearence, Verity learned about the Ancient Egyptians in school and how they preserved people and animals by making them into mummies.
Verity learned that they would hook a sharp, well hook, and pull out their brain, heart, and other organs and put them in separate jars!
Verity then found her cat, but she was dead under her bed, all curled up and her "usual" sleeping position. Of course, Verity was very sad but didn't tell her grandma or grandpa.
Verity didn't want to bury Mabel or cremate Mabel. She wanted her close so she decided to make Mabel into a mummy. She wrapped her in cloth and put lavender bath salts on her instead of regular salt.
That's what I found out so far and I'm really enjoying this book a lot.
Monster What I read in this half an hour is…. A guy that robbed and killed a man in the drug store, And has to go to court and jail. He is writing letters to his friends which are filming every single thing that is going on in court. The boy in jail is not happy in jail because if he even makes one noise the other people in jail will and are going to beat him up. The judge is asking a man called Zanzi a lot of questions about the case. Zanzi was the only man which saw what was happening in the drug store. The 2 friends of the boy were playing in the park and one asked the other if he wants to play a game. His friend Steve said yes. You have to hit that pole over there with a stone and then you get one point. Steve aimed to the pole with a stone and missed instead he missed and his a young woman in the 20ths.
