  1. Greek Heroes.

During the last 2 months we have been reading and watching movies about Greek heroes. I am going to tell you about the heroes, from the information I got from the book. The names of the four heroes are: Theseus, Perseus, Jason and Heracles.

The first hero is Theseus. He was in the myth called: “Theseus and the Minotaur.” His father was king Aegeus, and his task was to kill the Minotaur, to save the people from his country. He killed the Minotaur and became a hero.

The second hero is Perseus, who was in the myth called: “Perseus” His grandfather was king Acrisius, who he later killed, and his mother was Danae. His task was to bring Medusa’s head, which turned people that looked at her into stone. Perseus managed to bring Medusa’s head and became a hero.

The third hero is Jason and he was in the myth called: “Jason and the Golden Fleece.” His father was king Aeson and his task was to bring the Golden Fleece. He killed the harpies, the dragon, the dragon tooth army and managed to get past the clashing cliffs. He brought back the Golden Fleece and became a hero.

The fourth hero is Heracles and he was in the myth called: “The Twelve Labors of Heracles”. He had no family, since he killed them all with his god-like strength and was sentenced for 7 years of hard labor. During those 7 years he killed some monsters and helped people, which made him become a hero.

The similarities between these people are:

    1. That they are all heroes.

    2. They all kill some bad monsters or Titans.

    3. All of the heroes’ relatives were kings, except Heracles’ relatives.

    4. They are all men.

    5. They all fall in love and get married.

  2. Heroes in Greek mythology

During this school year we have been reading Greek myths. Nearly every story has one or more heroes which kill monsters. The stories are quite similar but not the same. This essay will include a discussion of the heroes Theseus, Perseus, Jason, Heracles and also a conclusion including similarities of the four characters.

The myth about Theseus is called “Theseus and the Minotaur”. Theseus has a father called Aegeus who rules the kingdom of Athens. Theseus’s task in this story is to kill the Minotaur. In the end he manages to kill the monster.

The myth about Perseus is called “Perseus”. Perseus has a father called Zeus who is the king of the gods. He has a mum called Danae and a grandfather called Acrisius and he rules the kingdom of Argos. Perseus’s task is to get the head of Medusa. In the end he succeeds to get the head of Medusa but on his was way back to the kingdom he sees a country having problems. It is a sea monster called Kraken. He manages to kill that monster too and returns to the kingdom Argos where he kills his grandfather.

The myth about Jason is called “Jason and the Golden Fleece”. Jason has a father called Aeson who rules the kingdom of Thebes. He also has an uncle named Pelias. Jason’s task is to get the Golden Fleece. In the end he kills the dragon that protects the Golden Fleece and on the way there he had already killed the Harpies and the Dragon-Tooth-Army.

The myth about Heracles is called “The twelve labors of Heracles”. Heracles has a family that he kills because he was drunk, so we don’t know any names and we don’t know anything about them. His tasks are to manage the twelve labors he gets from the king called Eurystheus. The labors are to kill a lion, kill the Hydra, capture a stag with golden antlers, kill a huge wild boar, clean the Augean stables, destroy a flock of bloodthirsty man-eating birds, tame the mad bull of Crete, capture the famous wild horses, collect the jewelled belt worn by the queen of the Amazons, fetch a legendary giant oxen, capture Pluto's three-headed dog and to bring the apples of the Hesperides. In the end he manages all the labors and he becomes free from being a slave.

The similarities between these four stories are that all the main characters are men and they all become heroes. Also they all fight monsters to become heroes. It was fun reading all the stories because they were exciting and perfect in length. I also enjoyed comparing them because you realized they were similar even though they seemed different because of the different characters, settings and tasks.

  3. Heroes

In English class, we’ve read lots of Greek myths. I found them quite interesting and they explain a lot about how the world came to be like this. One thing that lots of myths have in common is that they have heroes. In the upcoming paragraphs, I’ll be talking about four heroes.

In this paragraph, I’ll be talking about Theseus in “Theseus and the Minotaur”. Theseus is a prince, and his father is King Ageus and is from Athens. His task is to kill the Minotaur that is eating the 14 sacrifices. Of course, Theseus kills the Minotaur.

Now, I’ll be talking about Perseus “Perseus”. Perseus is the son of Danae and Zeus. He is also the grandson of King Acrisius of Argos. Perseus gets dared to get the Gorgon Medusa’s head to free his mother from the wicked King Polydectes. In the end, Perseus kills Medusa and the Kraken.

In “Jason and the Golden Fleece”, Jason is from Thessaly and is the son of King Aeson or in other versions, Aristo. Jason is a prince and his task is to get the legendary Golden Fleece to free his father from jail. In the end, Jason kills the dragon that never sleeps and the Harpies.

This paragraph is about Heracles in “The Twelve Labors of Heracles”. Heracles is very strong and his twelve tasks are to clean the Augean stables, kill animals, fetch jeweled artifacts, and to capture a number of animals. Heracles kills a lion, the dreaded Hydra, a boar and a flock of man eating birds.

I like all the myths we read and my favorite would be “Persephone and the Pomegranate Seeds”. My least favorite would be “The Twelve Labors of Heracles”. My favorite myth movie would be Disney’s “Hercules” and my least favorite would be “Jason and the Argonauts”. All the myths were similar because there’s always a villain and a hero. Also, something dies or gets killed. And there are lots of myths with tragedies. And, there is lots of love and romance in myths. The heroes always kill the bad guy or a monster/titan.

  4. Heroes.
I am going to tell you about the heroes of the Greek Myths. In the next paragraph I’m going o discuss Theseus. In the third paragraph I’m going to discuss Perseus. In the fourth paragraph I’m going to discuss Jason. In the fifth paragraph I’m discussing Hercules. In the last paragraph I’m comparing these heroes.
Theseus is a young man who is in a Greek Myth called ‘Theseus and the Minotaur’. He has a father who a king is called King Aegeus. His task is to kill the Minotaur, half man half bull, so his country won’t have to send fourteen people to the Minotaur for him to eat every year. He kills the mighty Minotaur with its own horn.
Perseus is young man who is in a Greek Myth called ‘Perseus and the Gorgon’. His father was the king of the gods, Zeus. His mother was Danae, the daughter of King Acrisuis. Perseus had a hard childhood, he was sent in a chest with his mother to drown but the chest didn’t drown. So he stayed alive. Then they got found by a fisherman who lived with them. The task of Perseus was for him to fetch the head of the gorgon, Medusa!!! She turned people to stone whenever they looked at her. But the brave Perseus killed her and then he killed the Kraken of the sea that was going to kill a girl tied to the cliffs.
Jason was a young man who is in the Greek Myth ‘Jason and the Golden Fleece’. He has a father called King Aeson who is king till his brother Pelias slaughters him and takes the throne. The task of Jason was to fetch the Golden Fleece guarded by King Medea. But first he had to kill the Harpies (half women, half bird), then he had to get through the clashing cliffs and then he has to kill the dragon tooth army and last of all to kill the dragon that guarded the Golden Fleece. He somehow managed to get through these obstacles so he could reclaim the throne.
Hercules (Heracles) is a young strong man who is in a Greek Myth and Roman Myth called ‘Hercules or Heracles and the Twelve Labours’. He has a father who is Zeus and a mother who is Hera. He isn’t immortal because Hades made him mortal but didn’t manage to give Hercules the whole potion so he still had his immortal strength. The 12 tasks of Hercules were; to kill the nemean lion, to kill the hydra, to kill the wild boar, to clean the stables filled with poop, to get the golden apples, to get the Cerberus, to get the belt of the Amazon warriors, to capture the stag with golden antlers, to kill the man eating birds, to kill the bull and to get the cattle guarded by a monster. With all his amazing strength and his clever mind he manages to complete all these tasks and becomes a free man again.
The things that are the same with these heroes are; they are all men, they all have to do a daring task and they are all in Greek Myths. This essay made me truly remember these Greek Myths and I think I will always be able to tell them to anyone for the rest of my life. So there was a real purpose for me to read these Greek Myths and I do enjoy most of them. This is the last assignment I will do on the Greek Myths so I hope you enjoy reading it.
    THE END!!!!!

  5. Heroes
During the school year we have been reading Greek myths. Today, I’m going to write about some heroes who we have read about. They are: Theseus, Perseus, Jason and Heracles.
Theseus is in the story Theseus and the Minotaur. His father is King Aegeus who unfortunately dies at the end of the myth because he jumps of a very high cliff and commits suicide. Theseus’s task is to kill the Minotaur. He succeeds and then he takes the king’s daughter away with him but he leaves her on a dry, deserted island.
Next is Perseus. He is in the story Perseus. His dad is the great God Zeus and his mum is Danae. The horrible, mean Polydectus dares him to get Medusa’s head. King Polydectus commands “If you do not bring me the head back your mum will marry me!” He succeeds but the mean king Polydectus makes him show him the head of the Gorgan. He shows him the head and immediately Polydectus gets turned to stone. Next, a young girl is about to get eaten by the gigantic kraken. He saves her and then they get married.
Next is Jason. He is in the story Jason and the Argonauts. His dad is called Aeson. Jason’s task is to steal the Golden Fleece. On the way to gain the Fleece, he had already battled and killed the Harpies and the Dragon-Tooth-Army. In the end, he kills the dragon that protects the Golden Fleece and he takes the bright, Golden Fleece. Jason then falls in love and marries Medea.
Last but not least is Heracles. He is in the story the twelve labours of Heracles which he has to do because he killed his family when he was drunk. The twelve labours are tasks which no human could ever complete. These included slaying the man eating lion, killing a Hydra and getting the golden antlers from a stag. He completes all of them. He falls in love.
The stories are all different but there are many similarities with these myths. They are all about men who are all heroes. They all fall in love and they all kill at least one monster or titan. I enjoyed learning about these. It was a good introduction to Greek Myths. I thought they were exciting adventures.

  6. This essay is about the Greek myths I have been reading with my class. In the next few paragraphs, I will write about Theseus, Perseus, Jason and Heracles.
Theseus is the son of the king of Athens. He one day asks his dad why do they all ways have to send their people to King Minos. His dad says it is because King Minos has a lot of power. He then says he has a creature in his basement of his castle so they have to feed the men and women to it. He tells his dad he is going and his dad tells him that if he wins then put up a white sail, if he loses then he should put up a black sail. He gets on a boat and sails to Minos’s palace. He then meets a girl that is Minos’s daughter and she gives him string so that he can trace his way back if he wins. He does win and gets out and then Minos’s daughter wants to get married to Theseus and Theseus says yes but doesn’t want to. They both get on a boat and sail to a nearby island were they get some food. Theseus leaves quickly so that they don’t have to get married but forgets to put up the white flag and his dad jumps off a cliff.
In this paragraph I am doing Perseus. Perseus’s Grand-dad is the dad of his mum, Danae. They get put in a chest because the granddad sees a fortune teller and she says he will kill him. They get washed up on the shore and saved by a fisherman. Then the king of the island comes and wants to marry Danae but Perseus says no. He then goes on a quest for the medusa head and gets it. His mum does not have to marry that king.
Jason goes on a quest to get the Golden Fleece. He gets a crew together and they sail around to various places for clues. When they get to the island where the Golden Fleece is, Jason kills the dragon in front of it and gets married to this girl he likes, Medea. When they get home, she makes a potion for Jason’s dad to look younger and stronger and gives Jason’s evil uncle a death potion.
Heracles is really strong and kills his family when he gets drunk. He then becomes a slave to the king and has to do 12 labours. Kill the wild lion, Kills hydra, finds golden deer, cleans poop farm, kills wild boar, captures bull, tames wild horses, kills man eating birds and steals a jewel belt. When he was free, he was ashamed because he had no one to go to because his friends hated him and his family was dead.
This essay was about the myths we have read. The similarities of them all is that they are all men, there is always something or someone being killed, and it always takes place in Greece but they are Greek stories.

  7. Six paragraph assignment.

Here I'm going to write six paragraphs about four different myths, Theseus And The Minotaur, Perseus, Jason And The Golden Fleece then The Twelve Labors Of Heracles. These heroes each have fought a monster like Minotaur, Medusa or Hydra. Second paragraph is going to be about Theseus. The third paragraph is about Perseus. The fourth paragraph is about Jason. The fifth paragraph is about Heracles and the last paragraph is the conclusion.

Theseus was the son of King of Athens. Once he got tired of letting many people from their kingdom to Crete a year so they would be eaten by the minotaur. So Theseus told his father that he will go to Crete and kill the Minotaur. The prince of Athens did what he said and married the daughter of king king Minos, princess Ariadne, but then his father king Aegeus killed himself because he thought his son died.

Perseus was a little child when his grandfather put him and Perseus' mother Danae into a big chest onto the sea, he thought they sank, but they didn't, they survived. A poor fisherman saved them wheb they were passing the island. When Perseus and his mother said no to Polydectes marrying Danae, Perseus was dared to kill Medusa to stop Polydectes marrying his mother Danae. When Perseus got the snakehead of Medusa he froze Polydectes and Perseus married a girl called Andromeda, the girl he saved from a seamonster.

Jason was the hero that saved his father, the real king of Thebes from jail to make him the king again, but Jason had to get th Golden Flece to his uncle to set his father free again. Jason needed help so he asked for a ship and many argonauts that would help him to get to the Golden Fleece. When Jason and his Argonauts went through the tiring journey they finnaly got the Golden Fleece and Jason married Princess Medea and got his father back to be the king again.

Hercules/Heracles was also a hero but he was a true hero and a god. When Perseus was young, Pluto's two servants gae the child the mortal drink, but Hercules didn't drink every last drop, but he still was really strong. When he found out he was supposed to be a god he had to become a true hero to become the god again, so when he did the 12 missions he became a true hero and married a girl he met on his first mission.

The conclusion in every story is that the heroes find their love and live happily ever after and they do their own missions.

  8. During our English lesson, we were writing about Theseus, Perseus, Jason and Hercules. But I won’t write about Theseus because I don’t know about him.

Perseus’s grand father was a king Acrisius and his parents were Zeus, Danae. His task was to kill Medusa by his grandfather. So he killed Medusa by cutting her head and by the time he killed Medusa he saw a girl attacking by a sea monster. Perseus killed it and rescued a girl named Andromeda and they lived happily ever after.

Jason’s uncle was Pelias and his dad was king Aeson. His uncle, Pelias killed his father so by his revenge he had a task to get the Golden Fleece. So Jason found the ship called Argo and the soldiers Argonauts. By the help of the goddess Hera they could arrive safely and met another girl named Medea by this girl’s help he managed to get the Golden Fleece and Medea and Jason fell in love and they live happily ever after.

Hercules was the strongest man in the Greek myth. He had to do the twelve tasks by the king Eurystheus’s which normal people can’t do he managed and he become free again.

    The similarities are:
    1)they were men
    2)they were heroes
All in all I loved these stories and it was really fun!!!

  9. In class we have seen films and read stories about Greek myths. I am going to tell you about 4 of the heroes that we learnt about. They all became heroes because they had a difficult challenge to accomplish and so they earned it. Now I will tell you about these characters and how they became heroes. At the end of the essay I will tell you what the similarities are between the heroes.

The first hero is Theseus who was a very brave man as he went with others to be a sacrifice for the Minotaur. But Theseus went to kill the beast and save the people. He was very confident that he could do it. In the palace Theseus meets Adriane and she falls in love with him and helps him. In the labyrinth where the minotaur is kept, Theseus defeats him and becomes a hero.

The next hero Perseus becomes a hero when he kills the dreaded Medusa. Perseus had a terrible childhood when his grandfather put him with his mother in a chest and threw them out to sea. But they didn’t die, they were found by a fisherman and lived on an island. But then he was given the task of bringing back the head of the Medusa to save his mother from marrying an evil king. Perseus kills the Gorgon and takes the head to Argos where he turns the Kraken to stone and it is destroyed . He is helped by the gods as he was the son of Zeus. Perseus also falls in love and marries.

Jason decided to look for the Golden Fleece and needed the strongest crew in Greece to help him. His father was king but was killed by Pelias so Jason wants to bring back the fleece so that the kingdom can be his again. He recruited the Argonauts and they set sail with the help of the goddess Hera. He goes to Phineas to tell him the way and first has to get rid of the Harpies. Then Jason has to get through the Clashing Cliffs and he conquers this with the help of the Sea God. Then he meets Medea and they fall in love even though her father is the king and tries to kill Jason. Lastly Jason has to kill the hydra who protects the Golden Fleece and then the tooth-army who attack him.

Heracles got drunk one day and killed his family. He was sent to prison to do twelve labours which was very hard challenges. Some of these were to kill a vicious lion, capture a stag, kill a wild boar and clean stables of Augean. Even though these were difficult tasks he manages them and becomes a hero once more.

The similarities between these Greek myths is that they are all about men who became heroes. They all had to complete difficult challenges which were about killing creatures. In all of the stories the gods helped them and were important in the storyline. They were good myths to read and the endings were all similar that the creatures die and the heroes survive. Also the heroes all fell in love and get married except Heracles.

  10. In this essay I will be writing about 4 different Greek myths. I will be writing 6 paragraphs. The first paragraph is this one the introduction, the second is a discussion of the Greek myth Theseus and the Minotaur, the third paragraph is a discussion of the Greek myth Perseus, the fourth paragraph is a discussion of Jason and the Golden Fleece, the fifth paragraph is going to be a discussion of The Twelve Labours of Heracles, the last paragraph is my conclusion plus a comparison. All the story’s have heroes I will tell you their names. In the myth Theseus and the Minotaur the name of the hero is Theseus. In the myth Perseus the hero is Perseus, in Jason and the Golden Fleece the hero is Jason. In the myth the twelve labours of Heracles is Heracles.

Theseus is one of the Heroes and in this paragraph I will write a bit about him. Theseus had to kill a Minotaur in the cellar, but this king called King Minos really hated Theseus and told him to kill the Minotaur.

Another Hero was Perseus. In this myth Perseus had to cut off the head of Medea, Medea is a woman with snake hair and if you look in their eyes she will turn you into stone. Perseus had to tackle some other creatures before he could kill Medea. There were the three sisters which had one eye to share, and some other animals like a two headed dog. When Perseus finally reached to the temple where Medea lived he hid behind a pole and when she came he cut off her head to kill the King which wanted to marry his mom.

Jason was another hero. He had a mission to get the Golden Fleece. There was only one problem there was a dragon guarding the Golden Fleece and that dragon never slept. So Jason and his team went to the Golden Fleece and were trying to kill the dragon, and then they did. When he got the Golden Fleece he carried it to the king.

The twelve Labours of Heracles was my favourite story. In the beginning Heracles was really drunk he was so drunk that he killed his whole family. The next day Heracles went to the king, the king told Heracles that he had to do twelve labours. One of them was to kill a lion which killed so many people.

I really enjoyed doing this work. It was really fun reading all those myths. I also had to write a comparison here are the comparisons.
    • They are all heroes in their own way.
    • All of them are men not women
    • They all killed a monster
    • They all did something for the kings
