  1. English Writing by James Robertson

Today in English we read our books. People were disturbing me so I could only read a bit of my book.
I picked a new book called The Lost Sheep. I chose the book because it had an amazing sunset on the front cover. I didn’t check the authors name because I wanted to get on and read it!
In the first chapter, a farmer called Billy had bought some sheep and he put them in a large van. When he arrived at his farm the sheep were gone and only a tiny little sheep was in the back.
The book is so amazing I did not want to put it down. I hope Billy will find the lost sheep.

  2. In the library today I read a book called out of order. The book is about a boy called Clot and he had a science class in the morning. The thing is that he hates science so he always forgets his science book in his locker to get a locker pass from the teacher. The teacher always lets the students read in the class whilst she is setting up for the experiment or lesson. When Clot gets his locker pass he goes to his locker to get his books, but instead he takes a 15 minute detour. The other thing is that he really hated to look at Plant cells; he took an even bigger detour. He is so bad in science that when they have a test he always looked at the answer to the person next to him. Now the teacher put him all alone in the corner of the room so he can’t look at someone else’s paper.

  3. 20,000 Leagues under the Sea.
This story is written by Jules Verne. On the front cover there is a picture of a man being drowned by an octopus. It was published in 2008 by Oxford University Press. Jules Verne was born in 1928 and died in 1905. She was born in France in a harbour town which inspired her to write this fiction story about future technology. Her best known other books are ‘Around the World in eighty Days’ and ‘Journey to the Centre of Earth’
Professor Aronnax is an amazing scientist that knows all about the underwater life. So when he heard about the mysterious sea monster that is attacking ships, he asks his friend Conseil to find the terrible beast.
On their boat with them is the famous Ned Land who is an excellent harpoon thrower. Ned is also a brave sailor who isn’t afraid of danger. This is good when they find what danger they get into.
They get captured by Captain Nemo, the underwater king, in his magnificent submarine. But soon they see that they are prisoners and keep trying to escape. But when they see the amazing scenes under the sea they forget there unhappiness a bit. From the Caribbean to the cold Antarctica they have to really fight to stay alive.
Will they escape or will they fail? Find out more next time!

  4. Reading log

Today we went to the library because we had a double lesson. We went with the other grade 6 to read in our books like we always do. I kept on reading “Diary of a wimpy kid – Dog days” and this is what I found out.

Today it was Greg’s birthday. He had high hopes about the day. He asked his mum to invite the whole family to his party so he would get a lot of presents. The relatives started showing up at 1:00. All the money Greg got, his mum took away to give to Mr. Jefferson to pay of the bill. Greg also got a mobile like he wanted called ladybug. After a while he realized that it wasn’t a real mobile because it only had two buttons, one for calling home and one for calling the emergency number.

Greg didn’t get a dog for his birthday but I still hope he will get one.

    TWILIGHT!!!
Today i read the best book ever, Twilight :). I didnt read much. I shared the book with Pauline and together we read the part where Edward tells Bella how he became a vampire and how hard it is to stop sucking blood when you already started. He told her that he was born in 1901 (he is approximetlly 108 years old) and when he was seventeen he got this bad flu that is worse than Swine Flu, and his parents had already died because of it so Corlile ( Edwards "dad" ) found him in the hospital and he chose to bite him because others had their parents alive but Edward didn't. When Corlile bit him it was REALLY painfull for Edward but HARD to stop for Corlile (Corlile saved Edward's life). The book also told us much more details then there are in the movie, for example what Bella was thinking about when she was looking at Edward. That's where i stoped and I think it's a REALLY GOOD book, i recommend others to read it too. :)

  6. Roald Dahl - The BFG

I have read 2 chapters called Mixing the Dream and Journey To London

What happened was that Sophie and the BFG mixed a dream for the Queen because the bad giants are going to England to eat the children. They want the Queen to stop the giants so the BFG and Sophie wanted to show the Queen what is happening in her dream. Once the mixture was ready the BFG and Sophie go to London and they arrive at the palace. All the way Sophie sits on the BFG’s large ear and has to tell him where to go. But as the bad giants are so quick they actually see them going back home and have to hide so that they are not spotted. When the BFG and Sophie arrive at the Palace the BFG tries to jump over the tall fence but there was another problem as he had to get past the security guards!!! At the end they manage it and the BFG blows the dream into the Queens bedroom using his funny looking trumpet. Sophie then sits on the Queens window sill to make sure that the dream works and the BFG disappears.

I can’t wait for the next chapter to see if the Queen sees Sophie and if she is cross that Sophie is in her room.

I’ve only got 50 pages to read so I should finish this book soon!

  7. Perseus.
We watched a longer film about Perseus. It was along film compared to the other one we watched. We had to write about what happened in the film.
Calibos asks his mum, Thenis, a powerful god, to do something bad to Perseus. So on Perseus’s wedding day, when he was marrying Andromeda, the bishop said that Andromeda was prettier than the god Thenis. Thenis’s statue was in the church and heard what the bishop said. So she made her head come off to hit Perseus and Andromeda but she missed. Then she said that Andromeda would be fed to the Kraken in 30 days.
So Perseus decided to kill the Kraken before it killed Andromeda. The only way to do that was to get Medusa’s head. He went to the three sisters who knew where Medusa was. She was in the underworld.
So Perseus went to the underworld to get Medusa’s head. He got to the place where Medusa stayed. First they had to fight off a two headed wolf.
When they got to Medusa’s den they went creeping and hid behind pillars ready to behead the gorgon. In the process both the guards died and Perseus was left. He waited with his sword in his hand and looking at the reflection of Medusa in the sword. She came walking past the pillar where Perseus was hiding and Perseus swung his sword straight through Medusa’s neck beheading her. He went back to the normal world and slept with two guards guarding him. But Calibos was near by and saw Medusa’s head. He stabbed his dagger through the bag with the gorgon’s head in. Blood came out of the bag that turned to giant scorpions. Perseus woke with his men and fought the scorpions. In the process, both his guards died. He killed the last scorpion and then killed Calibos. Then he sent Bubo to get the flying horse to rescue Andromeda from the Kraken. Bubo rescued the horse from it’s cage and picked up Perseus to go to the place where andromeda was being killed by the Kraken. The Kraken was just about to eat Andromeda when Perseus showed him Medusa’s head. Then he turned to stone and collapsed into the sea. Then Andromeda married Perseus and lived happily ever after.
    The End.

  8. REFLECTIVE WRITING
On the fourteenth of December we had double English lesson and on the second lesson we went to the library with 6 “B”. And there I continued reading “Hole In The Sky” by Pete Hautman.
Tim and Hap had been on a trading circuit for more than three months when Uncle got a call on his CB radio that they were back on the plateau and would be arriving in two days. Ceej was eager to see Tim again. Except for Uncle and Harryette, Ceej hadn’t seen another human being since March. But it was also a little nervous. Tim always showed up stories of adventures and amazing sights, just sitting around the Grand Canyon Village cutting wood and feeding the mules and losing games of gin rummy to his sister.
So Ceej started thinking about the way he could really impress Tim, and he came up with the idea of fresh fish. Except his idea wasn’t really about fish, it was about heading down the Bright Angel Trail. All the way to the river. Alone. Fishing was just an excuse, and the fish were how he’d proved that he had done it. The more he thought about it, the more he liked his idea. The Bright Angel had once been a wide, well-maintained trail, but since the Flu it had fallen into despair. Several areas were crashed and hard to follow.
I hope that Tim will come back and they will play with Ceej again.

In the beginning Greg joins a swimming team which he hates and has to join every year because his mum makes him join it.
The next day when he's there he hates it because its to cold so he decides to do half the lesson then say he needs to go to the bathroom and just sits there for the rest of the lesson even colder so he wraps him self in toilet paper.
That is all i have read so far.
